The Gunotsav, an annual educational assessment organised by Samagra Shiksha Assam (SSA), aims to evaluate and enhance the quality of education in both elementary and secondary schools across the state.
This year’s sixth edition of Gunotsav was conducted from January 6 to February 9, 2025, in three phases. It covered 44,077 schools and assessed a total of 38,98,945 students with the help of 17,585 external evaluators. The program, launched in 2017, has become a key initiative in Assam’s educational reform.

Three districts were awarded for excelling in quality education and transparent evaluation. Furthermore, 4,320 students from rural and underprivileged backgrounds received tablets under the Aarohan programme, which mentors talented students.
Additionally, grants of ?25,000 were given to 11,594 schools that achieved an A+ grade in the 2024 assessment. This acknowledgment underscores the state’s commitment to improving educational quality, with a focus on both infrastructure and student learning outcomes.
